Ideation
The idea of this council consisting of heterogeneous industries, despite presence of several chambers of commerce, stemmed from the need to
- Revive the culture of entrepreneurship in the Bengali community,
- Develop the sense of strong fellowship, network building and brotherhood amongst the members of society and
- Be a unified voice of the Bengali Business Community.
Legal Formation
Bongiyo Antorjatik Banijyo Council, the legal name of Bengal Business Council, is incorporated on 16 July 2021 as a Section 8, Not-for-Profit company registered under the Companies Act, 2013.[CIN: U85300WB2021NPL246448, PAN: AAJCB9894K, TAN: CALB22011D]
The Six Point Agenda
- Promote more and more Bengalis to take up business as a Career. Promote existing Start – Ups and Small Businesses owned by Bengalis to scale up.
- Promote internal business among the Council Members.
- Promote Business Development in a Collaborative and Cooperative manner for Council Members.
- Represent members in case they need to interface with the Government on any issues of policy affecting them.
- Perception and Psychotropics define decisions in the Business world. We need to change the perception that Bengalis are not good at Business by highlighting and popularising the history and achievements of Bengali Businessmen.
- Create an organisation that will achieve the above goals and ensure continuity and perpetuity.

Vision
To nurture the revival and growth of entrepreneurship and be the unified voice of the Bengali business community.
Mission
To foster the growth and development of businesses run by Bengalis by raising awareness, camaraderie and brotherhood amongst its members and their larger network with the definitive goal of cultivating the spirit of enterprise by ensuring perpetuity of Bengali family enterprises and by means of mentorship and funding of ventures by entrepreneurs from the Bengali community to revive the forgotten renown of Bengalis as the premier business community paving the way for nation-building.
The Governing Body
Shri Subhashis Dutt, the fifth-generation-owner at Mohendra Dutt & Sons (estd. 1882), had brought forth the need of this society and spearheaded the formation and functioning of the organization.
